I’m actually right-side up in this photo, it’s our yard that’s upside-down (which explains why my hat doesn’t fall off).
The Dad Story Project website finally launched
After working for the last couple of months on the website for my ministry, The Dad Story Project, I have the site in reasonable enough shape to finally let it go live. It may still be buggy, and I will still be making changes, but at least it’s out there. If you visit, please tell me what you think—and let me know if you find anything that doesn’t work or doesn’t make sense. And please join me in praying that God uses this website to encourage fathers and families everywhere! Here’s a screenshot of the homepage.
Welcome to The Dad Story Project
I’m glad you found your way here! My name is Peter Lewis and I am a Christian, husband, father, and friend (in that order). Beyond that is work and play, of course, but that stuff pales in comparison to those primary roles.
I love being a husband and a father, and for many years now I have been working quietly in my spare time to create a way to reach out to fathers and families everywhere. I wanted to combine my years of experience as a professional writer, editor, and designer, to build a ministry of encouragement that would help dads do their jobs well. Being a dad can be lonely, frustrating, scary and a little insecure sometimes—so I set out to build a web-based place for men and their families to find strength and support and cheer, a place to learn and to smile and to laugh and perhaps even shed a tear or two.
And so, you now hold in your hands (so to speak), the fruits of my labors for these last few years: THE DAD STORY PROJECT (TDSP). The idea is so simple as to be laughable: use the shared stories of everyday parenting to build each other up. I’ll write some of the stories, and all you out there will (collectively) write many more. Together we will build a great storehouse of memories: lessons taught and lessons learned; of happy moments and sad; of triumphs, near-misses and loss; of challenges met and overcome, of things hoped for and things found, of words and prayers and thoughts and deeds. I believe that being a good dad is not the happenstance of biology, but a calling directly from God—join me now in making fatherhood all it can be.

An innocent foray into raising chickens leads our family down a sinister path as our rooster slowly goes insane. Danger lurks around every corner until we no longer bear it and drastic measures must be taken. And while things end with a bang (seve...
